Salary Cap Rules

New Structured Salary Cap Rules (Division 1)

iNTRODUCING THE 56 POINT SYSTEM

*APPLICABLE TO TEAMS WITH A ROSTER SIZE OF 9 SKATERS FOR DIVISION 1*

Effective immediately, MSHL is re-working the ranking system to better accommodate a more specific rank for each player.

Every previously ranked player would now be given a number rank. Using their magic number to amount to 56. Creating a variety of different combinations, as well so as introducing multiple number ranks, going alongside a players already established letter rank.

For example:

*Numbers in PURPLE are allowed to play in both Division 1 and Division 2*

Adding all of the numbers in BLUE would amount to 56 total. Of course that being if you're using the maximum rank for each player. Not every AAA player would be ranked M11, as well so not every AA player would be ranked M8, so on and so fourth.

The best of the best AAA players would receive the M11 rank, and the best of the best AA players would receive the M8 or M7 rank, etc.

A players rank is subjected to change season to season, and usually can only go up or down 1 number.

As well, as we all know; Division 1 is stronger than Division 2 caliber. This also prevents high tier AA players going down to play any games in hopes to boost a team for any game(s).

The plan for this structure is to be able to identify a players true rank.

This plan also ensures that Division 2 remains as fair as possible without giving the ability to the stronger AA players from going down and play.

*Please keep in mind, each team still has to follow the specific salary cap format. If for example a team is only using 45/56 total points, it doesn't allow them to have an extra AAA player at 10 or 11 points to reach 56/56.*

Maximum allowed salary cap for Division 1:

- 2x AAA

- 1x AA+

- 2x AA

- 1x A+

- 3x A

- 1x Goalie

Old Structured Salary Cap

our previous ranking system

*DIVISION 1 + 2*

Previously, MSHL had letter ranks that could have potentially created loop holes in our system. For example:

1. The best rank: AAA

2. The second best rank: AA

3. The third best rank: A

Our previous salary cap on a 9-skater roster was the following:

DIVISION 1
DIVISION 2
2x AAA players
0x AAA players
3x AA players
2x AA players
4x A players
7x A players
*Goalie does not affect salary cap*
*Goalie does affect salary cap*

Although we do agree that a ranking system is extremely hard to get perfect, we also do agree that we can make the rankings more legitimate and refined.

This previous ranking system allowed any AA player to freely jump from Division 1 to Division 2.

New Structured Salary Cap Rules (Division 2)

INTRODUCING THE 27 POINT SYSTEM

*APPLICABLE TO TEAMS WITH A ROSTER SIZE OF 9 SKATERS FOR DIVISION 2*

Effective immediately, MSHL is re-working the ranking system to better accommodate a more specific rank for each player.

Every previously ranked player would now be given a number rank. Using their magic number to amount to 27. Creating a variety of different combinations, as well so as introducing multiple number ranks, going alongside a players already established letter rank.

For example:

Adding all of the numbers in BLUE would amount to 27 total. Of course that being if you're using the maximum rank for each player. Not every AA player would be ranked M6, as well so not every A player would be ranked M2.

A players rank is subjected to change season to season, and usually can only go up or down 1 number.

This ensures MSHL having more control of which specific player is able to play in Division 2, making the experience for the recreational Division 2 level more competitive while ensuring the maximum fairness possible.

A Division 2 team is allowed to have a AA goalie in their lineup, however it would come at the cost of surrendering one of their AA skaters. The idea is only to have 2x AA players throughout the whole lineup.

*Please keep in mind, each team still has to follow the specific salary cap format. If for example a team is only using 19/27 total points, it doesn't allow them to have an extra AA player at 6 points to reach 25/27.*

Maximum allowed salary cap for Division 2:

- 2x AA

- 1x A+

- 6x A

- 1x Goalie
